DraftGenresCoverSettings

What you can do here

Work creation is the first step before writing or publishing. Fill in the title, type, status, age rating, genres, cover, and visibility settings so the draft is ready for the editor.

Choose the work type and status
Add genres, cover, and language
Set visibility, comments, and download access

Where to find it

Open the author dashboard and use the Add work action. The form contains the main metadata, cover, warnings, access settings, and reader interaction settings.

Before you start

Prepare the title, language, type of work, completion status, age rating, and at least one suitable genre.
If you already have a cover, use JPG, JPEG, or WebP. The recommended vertical range is 400×600 to 720×1280 pixels, up to 2 MB.
Decide in advance who can see, comment on, and download the work. These settings can be changed later.

Important details

Chapter-based types include novel, novella, story collection, and poetry collection. Short forms usually work as single texts.
Content warnings are not a penalty. They help readers decide whether the work is suitable for them.
Copy protection, AI-assisted marking, and disabled reviews are separate settings; enable only what matches the work.
A draft is not automatically the same as a public work. Publication and visibility are controlled separately.

Main actions

  1. Open the author dashboard
  2. Click Add work
  3. Read the publication rules and continue
  4. Fill in the form and create the draft

If something does not work

The cover does not upload.

Check file type, size, and resolution. Use a vertical JPG/JPEG/WebP under 2 MB.

The form does not create the work.

Check required fields, genre selection, age rating, and any validation message shown near the form.

Readers cannot access the work later.

Review visibility, publication status, and whether the work has public chapters.

Common questions

Can I edit the details later?

Yes. Open the draft settings from the author dashboard and update the metadata.

Do I need a cover immediately?

No. You can create the draft first and add the cover later.

Why do I need an age rating?

The rating helps readers understand whether the work is suitable for them.
