1. What may be published
YouWriter accepts original literary works and lawfully authorised publications in the formats supported by the platform.
- Short stories, novellas and novels.
- Poems and poetry collections.
- Series, cycles and story collections.
- Fan works where publication is lawful and does not falsely claim official status or ownership of third-party rights.
2. Age ratings and content warnings
Authors must select an honest age rating and add warnings for material that may significantly affect a reader’s choice.
- Violence, cruelty, body horror or graphic injury.
- Sexual or erotic themes that are lawful and permitted by the platform.
- Substance use, addiction, self-harm, suicide or severe psychological themes.
- Abuse, discrimination, trauma or other sensitive subjects.
3. What cannot be published
The following content is prohibited:
- Texts copied, translated or adapted without the necessary rights or permission.
- Illegal content, fraud, scams, malicious links, spam or deceptive promotion.
- Direct and credible threats, incitement to violence or unlawful hatred against protected groups.
- Sexual content involving minors, sexual exploitation or content that normalises such abuse.
- Publication of private personal data, doxxing or non-consensual intimate material.
- Instructions whose primary purpose is to facilitate serious crime, evasion of law enforcement or immediate harm.
4. Copyright and permissions
By publishing, the author confirms that they created the work or have all permissions required for the text, cover, illustrations, quotations and other included material.
Attribution does not replace permission where permission is legally required. Public-domain or openly licensed material must be used in accordance with the applicable terms.
5. Honest presentation and metadata
Titles, descriptions, genres, tags, language, status and age rating must describe the work accurately.
- Do not use unrelated tags or misleading covers to attract traffic.
- Do not publish repeated copies of the same work as spam.
- Do not present an unfinished work as complete or another person’s work as your own.
- AI-assisted content must be disclosed where the platform provides a disclosure field or where omission would materially mislead readers.
6. Conduct around published works
Discussion and criticism are welcome, but authors and readers must not harass, threaten, manipulate ratings or organise abuse against others.
Reviews should address the work honestly. Coordinated fake ratings, paid undisclosed reviews and retaliation through reviews are prohibited.
7. Moderation and complaints
Readers can report a work, comment or user when they believe these Rules or the law have been violated. Reports should include a clear reason and relevant context.
Moderators may request edits, correct classification, limit visibility, suspend publication or remove content. Disputed cases may be reviewed again through the available appeal or support process.
8. Consequences of violations
The response depends on seriousness, context, risk and previous violations. Measures may include a warning, required correction, temporary restriction, removal of content, suspension or account closure.
Severe illegal content, credible threats or repeated deliberate infringement may lead to immediate action and, where required, referral to competent authorities.
